It’s a great time of year for a DIY Seafood Boil! This is a relatively easy meal to prepare as all the ingredients are cooked in a single pot (each one for a varied number of minutes). The seafood boil is excellent for celebrating any kind of occasion as it offers lots of variety for your guests and the presentation is visually stunning!
Ingredients:
Lobster Tails
Dungeness Crab
Prawns
King Crab
Clams
Snow Crab
Scallops
Mussels
You’ll need an extra-large pot and an even bigger platter! As ingredients are pulled from the boiling water, place them on ice to stop them from cooking further. Add corn on the cob, Yukon Gold potatoes, and Andouille sausage to round out this amazing seafood feast! Serve with melted butter or a spicy dipping sauce of your liking.
Enjoy this seafood extravaganza with a group of seafoodies and pair it with your favourite bottle of chilled bubbly, white wine or rosé to elevate the experience! Enjoy!
All the following ingredients are available at 7 Seas Fish Market. Visit our flagship store in Kitsilano to pick up everything you need to make your very own spectacular Seafood Boil!
Lobster Tails
Thaw our frozen 4oz East Coast lobster tails in the fridge. Cut the shell down the centre, leaving the tail fan intact. Cook the thawed East Coast lobster tails in a pot of salted boiling water for 4 minutes.
Dungeness Crab
Our frozen wild Dungeness crab sections are pre-cooked. Place the wild Dungeness crab sections in a pot of salted boiling water for 2 minutes.
Prawns
Our wild Argentinian Red jumbo prawns are de-veined with a split shell, making them super easy to peel. Cook the wild Argentinian Red jumbo prawns in a pot of salted boiling water for 2-3 minutes if frozen, and 1-2 minutes if thawed.
King Crab:
Our frozen wild Red King crab claws are pre-cooked. Place the wild Red King crab claws in a pot of salted boiling water for 3 minutes.
Snow Crab:
Our frozen wild Norwegian snow crab clusters are pre-cooked. Place the wild Norwegian snow crab clusters in a pot of salted boiling water for 2 minutes.
Scallops:
We import fresh Atlantic scallops from Boston twice a week. These scallops are large in size and super sweet in flavour. Cook the fresh Atlantic scallops in a pot of salted boiling water for 2 minutes, or until they’re opaque and slightly firmer.
Mussels:
Our Honey mussels are large in size and have a distinct sweet-smoky flavour. Cook the live Honey mussels in a pot of salted boiling water for 5 minutes, or until the shells open.
