Trout caviar comes from rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss and derives from Denmark.

Top grade quality.

Egg size is medium size of peppercorn.

Egg color is mandarin orange / clear pastel orange orb wit a bright tangerine orange "iris".

Egg lucidity is perfectly bright, shiny, fresh, great light refraction.

Egg uniformity and consistency is excellent.

Intensity is low.

Characteristics and aromas include sea breeze, with a hint of stone fruitiness.

No faults or volatile aromas.

Primary tastes are briney, mild anchovy, moderate pronounced saltiness.

Intensity of flavors are intense but medium to short lived.

Texture and finish has a robust membrane.

Impressed with this caviar "visually amazing" pleasing nose and great for an impressive culinary garnish. Excellent with smoke salmon or cream cheese blini.


Imported from Denmark, our Danish Trout Caviar (species Oncorhynchus mykiss) is one of our best-selling, non-sturgeon caviar products and has increased in popularity over the last half-decade. The fish have been sustainably close-farmed and provide firm, medium-sized (the size of peppercorns), shiny and fresh, lightly-salted grains (eggs). The grains are Mandarin-orange in colour with a mild, fresh, fruity flavor, with a subtle anchovy-like taste. They are an excellent source of Omega 3-fatty acids and provide a colourful eye-catching pop to canapes and hors d’oeuvres. Add Danish Trout Caviar to scrambled eggs and omelets, or serve atop deviled eggs. Use as a garnish for seafood and pasta dishes, or enjoy it standalone with some crackers or bread.

This product is pasteurized and has a minimum 6-month shelf life. The ideal temperature to store this product is 1 C to 4 C.
